From 6 to 10 July 2026, the SWARMER project team met at the ICARUS headquarters in Bordeaux, France, for an intensive week dedicated to drone hardware and software integration.

Moving from a development environment to physical hardware is a major milestone in any robotics project. The integration week delivered substantial progress while also providing valuable technical insights that will support the next stages of system development and validation.

Key achievements

During the week, the team:

  • finalised and confirmed the target hardware platform;
  • successfully integrated the core software modules;
  • established a stable foundation for further system validation and testing.

Progressing towards flight testing

Following the integration activities, the drone has reached an important stage in hardware and software integration. The team has also established a clear path for addressing the remaining technical constraints and continuing preparations for initial flight testing.

The week was demanding but highly productive, marking an important step towards further system validation and flight testing within the SWARMER project.
